Letter from Peter Darbishire, SWRugby Referee:
"The South West Rugby Referees’ Society has been using WhosTheRef.com since 2015, soon after it was introduced. Our society is entrusted with providing appointments for high school rugby in South Western Ontario, Canada. We have a short season but appoint referees to about 250 matches in four regions over a two-month period each spring. We have a roster of 20-30 match officials.
WhosTheRef.com has been a constant asset for us. Like many, before we had WhosTheRef.com we used a simple spreadsheet system, which had more than a few shortcomings. What a revolution it was once we subscribed to WhosTheRef.com! The system has allowed us to set appointments and monitor acceptance, as well as involving our game convenors and coaches to view and communicate with us. We can see records at a glance.
The ability to use WhosTheRef.com for almost all our communications, monitoring Match Official coaching and reports is seamless and of great benefit in helping us develop new referees while maintaining our relationship with existing Referees.
Like many referee communities around the world, all our work is done by volunteers. If we did not have WhosTheRef.com to assist, we would likely have a mutiny and no new volunteers!
We are familiar with the many additional features in WhosTheRef.com, even though we do not use them all. During the time we have been part of the ‘WhosTheRef.com Family’, the developers have continually added practical features which I am sure benefit other users. Many of these enhancements have come from suggestions by users and they have been included to add to the versatility of the original platform.
I strongly urge any organisation considering a management system for match officials to ask for a demonstration of its features to see how it can answer their needs."
